2012, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas

Preceded by a short recital of popular operatic solos, Dido and Aeneas suited the talents of DVS. Marilla Holmes enchanted us as Dido, especially with Dido’s lament. It is the earliest opera in English still being performed, and this version with piano accompaniment and many short choruses kept us entertained as part of the Diamond Creek Uniting Church’s Arts Festival.
