2007, Faure's Requiem, Handel's Coronation Anthems

These were performed with Yarra Valley Singers at All Saints Anglican and Ormond Uniting churches. Soloists were Marilla Holmes and Lucas Richter. The Requiem was also performed with Preston Symphony Orchestra. We were preparing Faure’s Requiem to be performed with Yarra Valley Singers and Preston Symphony Orchestra. Unfortunately YVS lost their conductor, so Ian helped them out while they advertised for another while Graham kept the home fires burning.

The first performance of the Faure Requiem was at All Saints in Greensborough. DVS sang some Handel anthems and were later joined by YVS for the Faure. One of the men collapsed at the end of the Handel. The following week there was another performance at Ormond Uniting Church. Lucas Richter and Jennifer Wilson were soloists.

The performance with the Preston Symphony Orchestra was just the Faure and it was a real buss. Lucas was again baritone soloist with Marilla Homes doing the soprano. DVS also combined with YVS to sing some of the Faure at a Choral Festival at Luther College in Croydon with the Melbourne Male Choir and Maroondah Singers.

We donated $10 000 to charity, $108 300 in 22 years.

These are the performances of the Faure Requiem with Preston Symphony Orchestra. The soloist in #4 is Marilla Homes.
