A Nice Dilemma

Faure’s Requiem and Coronation Anthems (Handel)

The year started with another Cabaret evening at Greensborough Uniting Church and it was a full evening. Brian Phelp, Rae Lawry and Anne Sharkey all made their debuts and the Boorondara Brass performed a couple of brackets. The choir sang the medley from Les Miserables, “Climb Every Mountain” and excerpts from “Fiddler on the Roof”. There were a lot of solos.

In May a number went to see Park Players production of High Society which featured Alan Flint in a lead role. It was very successful.

At the start of May DVS performed in the annual Choral@Montsalvat with some help from Serendipity. Unfortunately not everyone was available and they chose the wrong key to come in on in an unaccompanied part, but it was generally successful.

The AGM was a rowdy affair with quite a number feeling that A Nice Dilemma had kept people from the oratorio. However, the figures didn’t support this. Of course some of done Carmina Burana with Yarra Valley Singers and so missed a few rehearsals.

We finished the year with the usual carol service at St Mary’s in Greensborough.

We donated $10 000 to charity, $108 300 in 22 years.
